Abstract

Forensic nursing is a specialized field that intersects healthcare and the legal system, focusing on the care of patients who have experienced trauma or violence, and the collection and preservation of evidence critical to legal proceedings. Forensic nurses play a vital role in various contexts, including sexual assault cases, domestic violence incidents, and accidental or intentional injuries. They are trained to provide compassionate care while being observant of potential evidence related to the crime or injury. Their responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, documenting findings, and collaborating with law enforcement and legal professionals. The integration of nursing practice with forensic science enhances the quality of care for victims while contributing to the criminal justice process. As a growing field, forensic nursing emphasizes the importance of trauma-informed care and the need for professionals who are skilled in both clinical practices and legal protocols. Through education and multidisciplinary collaboration, forensic nurses aim to improve outcomes for patients and support the pursuit of justice. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple electronic databases, including PubMed, Wiley, Springer, Google Scholar, Web of Science, World Health Organization (WHO), Wikipedia, ResearchGate, Forbes, Medline, and Healthline.
