No person is a drug abuser since childhood, it is the various factors related to him make him a drug over user. this systematic review put its objectives to find the factors That Can Enhance or Mitigate Adolescent Risk for Initiating or Continuing to Abuse Drugs, which are more likely factors like exposure to drugs, socio-economic status, quality of parenting, peer group influence.
The databases of Medline/PubMed and Google scholar were searched for relevant articles about the Factors That Can Enhance or Mitigate Adolescent Risk for Initiating or Continuing to Abuse Drugs. The articles were searched according to the inclusion criteria specified for this review. An extraction data sheet was designed. Study design, sampling, outcome and results of the study were extracted.
From the 18 titles identified, 15 were irrelevant and 5 were evaluated for more details. Only three articles met the inclusion criteria. The evidence from the selected studies was convincing enough to recommend factors like exposure to drugs, socio-economic status, quality of parenting, peer group influence stood more chance to make a person a drug abuser.
Current evidence suggests that the selected studies was convincing enough to recommend factors like exposure to drugs, socio-economic status, quality of parenting, peer group influence stood more chance to make a person a drug abuser. However, further explorative studies with larger sample size and longer duration are required.
