Abstract

This paper explores the problems and prospects of unirrigated agriculture in Tamil Nadu. This paper also gives details of district-wise unirrigated agriculture in Tamil Nadu. Besides, this study identifies the major problems in production, cropping pattern and crop diversification, availability of institutional credit and crop insurance schemes. This paper suggests that effective implementation of watershed development projects, ease in access to credit and modernisation in crop insurance policies for achieving sustainable production in unirrigated agriculture.
