In the present study an attempt has been made to investigate whether gender and type of school is related to fifth standard tribal students performance in the environmental studies. The sample included 610 (315 male and 295 female) purposively selected fifth standard tribal students studying in Ashram and Government higher Primary School of Chamarajanagar District of Karnataka State. The result indicates that there is no significant difference between male and female students in different areas of environmental studies, where as difference is seen among the students of Government and Ashram School.
