The importance of value education in the present education system comes from the fact that there has been a persistent erosion of values in all aspects of human life in our society, and the realisation that the future of the nation is dependent upon the radical transformation of attitudes and values of the younger generation. In addition, it is reported by all experts repeatedly that influence of the value orientation of the teacher and his personal example count much in shaping the value orientation of the student. It becomes imperative to ascertain whether the value orientation of teacher and student will be the same. In the light of this thought, a random sample of teacher trainees and teacher educators were selected and a personal value questionnaire was administered and using this data, the ten personal values of the trainees and educators is analysed in this present study. The result was that the democratic, the aesthetic, and the hedonist values are found to be top ranking in both teacher trainees and teacher educators, whereas the health value occupies the last ranking. It is found from this study that there is no much difference between the value orientation of teacher trainees and teacher educators. Hence, it is concluded that teachers always pass on some values, whether they are conscious of it or not, through their conduct, in and out of classrooms to their students. Thus, the value orientations of teacher educators and of teacher trainees are not very different.
