Entry is the most important component of any lexicon for which all other elements are used to explain and clarify its meaning. What draws the user to the lexicon is the entry. Entry is the way to enter and access information inside the lexicon. Frequency of usage is a very important factor in selecting monolingual entry. More frequent usage of the word makes its registry in lexicon necessary. In this article, the public methods of selecting entries in public, monolingual Persian lexicons and the measures to recognize the word units which from lexicographers’ viewpoint can be considered as entry heads will be studied. There after we will be discuss how entry can be registered. Different kinds of entries in monolingual Persian lexicon will be studied too.
