The present global scenario clearly indicates enormous opportunities for the Indian Silk industry. Sericulture is one of the labour intensive sector and women friendly economic activity in rural India. Women participate in a variety of economic activities but their potential is still underutilized. The paper analyzes the participation of rural women and current economic situations, empirical studies, theoretical frame work and economic theories in this context. The main objective of the study is to know different approaches to women empowerment and to analyze status of women in sericulture industry in this study area. The present study is based on Primary and secondary information. It is an attempt to know the women empowerment through sericulture industry with the influence of equity approaches for economic development. The results of the study is also shows that the socio-economic status of women sericulture farmers as improved through sericulture industry and women empowerment is completely depends on sericulture industry in the study area.
