Krishna Raja Wodeyar VI was the eldest son and successor of His Highness Sri. Chamaraja Wodeyar X. The installation of Krishna Raja Wodeyar IV then 10 years old was performed at Mysore by Colonel Henderson, the British Resident with all the customary ceremonies on the 1st of February 1895. Her Highness the Maharani was at the same time proclaimed the Regent. The education of the Maharaja was at first entrusted to Mr. J.J. Whiteley, of Cooper‘s Hill Engineering college who had been appointed as tutor some time before the death of His late Highness Sri. Chamaraja Wodeyar X. Mr. Fraser of the Bombay Civil Service was appointed as the tutor to His Highness.
