Future India is in the hands of healthy new born children which is more important than material resources. Anganwadi workers are functionary at AWCs who are recruited by ICDS Projects. The ICDS program aims at development of infants and children below six years, mothers and pregnant women for enhancing their survival. This study was conducted to find out the level of satisfaction of Anganwadi (AWWs) workers towards their work and family life.
In this study it is found that the level of satisfaction in AWWs for Recognition (42), Leave Allowance (38), Support from superiors (52), Support from Colleagues (47), Referral services for employees (55), Attending to the needs of the family (47) and Attending family function (52) are neutral in satisfaction level. AWWs are highly satisfied with the support from family members (87) and are satisfied with medical facilities (72), working environment (65) and Managing household works (40). It is also noticed that AWWs are dissatisfied with the pay package (81) and are highly dissatisfied with Growth opportunities (37), Recreation facilities (80) and Time spent with children (41).
This study is a descriptive study and was carried out in ICDS blocks from Udumalpet region, Tamilnadu. It covers Udumalpet, Gudimangalam, and Madathukulam. Stratified random sampling is adopted and about 50% of the Anganwadi workers in each stratum were considered for the study. The same methodology of study can be carried out in any of the parts of the regions in the globe.
