Abstract

The beet (Btla vulgaris L.) yields were reduced by 70.3 and 73.5% due to the infestation of weeds in 1974–75 and 1975–76, respectively. Polygonum plebijum L. and Chtmpodium album L. constituted more than 75% of the total weed population. Application of pyrazon (5-amino-4-chloro-2-phenyl-3 (2H)-pyridazinone) at the rate of 2kg/ha along with phenmedipham (melhyl-m-hydroxycarbanilate-m-methylcarbanilate) at 1.5 kg/ha produced yield at par with that of weed free treatment during both the years.
