Weed control efficiency of nine herbicides was tested in irrigated wheat where Phalaris minor Retz. was dominant weed and their influence on grain yield was evaluated. The weed control efficiency was the highest (74.81%) in case of metoxuron at 2.5 kg/ha post emergence followed by methabenzthiazuron at 1.5 kg/ha pre emergence (82.66%), methabenzthiazuron at 1.5 kg/ha post emergence (64.47%). and penoxalin at 1.25 kg/ha pre emergence (84.18%). The highest yield of 24.02 q/ha was produced under treatment of methabenzthiazuron at 1.5 kg/ha pre emergence followed by penoxalin at 1.25 kg/ha pre emergence (23.69 q/ha), metoxuron at 2.5 kg/ha post emergence (21.15 q/ha) and nitrofen at 1.5 kg/ha while under weedy check the yield was 9.4 q/ha. The increased yield was attributed to higher number of effective tillers, increased ear length and 1000 grain weight.
