Three-season field trials of 3 herbicides were carried out to control winter weeds in dwarf wheat (var. HDM 1553). Herbicides were highly effective than unweeded control and hand-weeding once. Terbutryne (Igran 80 WP) at 2.0 a.i./ha, as pre-emergence, (TOK at 3) Nitrofsn lit/ha and 2,4-D (Na salt) at 1.25 kg a.i./ha reduced the weed population by 95,77 and 80%, and increased the grain yield by 8, 9 and 8 q/ha over unweeded control respectively. The increased income was Rs. 549, Rs. 854 and Rs. 1024/ha respectively. The dry matter accumulation of weeds was the least under these treatments. Nitrofen and 2,4-D proved economically better than hand weeding.
