Abstract

An experiment was conducted on soybeans under recommended doie and 75 per cent of the recommended dose of NPK in combination with four weed control treatments viz., unweeded control, hand weeding at 20 and 40 days after sowing, preemergent alachlor 2.5 kg a.i./ha and metribuzin 1.0 kga.i/ha. Weed control treatments checked the weed popul-ation and had higher number of pods, weight of seeds and yield. Though weed populations and dry matter were significantly higher under recommended dose of fertilizers than with 75 per cent dose, there were no significant differences in yields between these treatments indicating a possibility of reducing the fertilizer doses when weeds could be kept under check.
