Abstract

The weed control efficacy of alachlor, nitrofen, linuron, methabenz-thiazuron and fhichloralin was evaluated in vegetable pea for four years. Unchecked weed competition caused 50.8% reduction in green pod yield. Preemergence applica-tion of alachlor 1.0 kg/ha, alachlor 0.75 kg/ha, followed by one hand weeding 30 day after planting, linuron 0.5 or 1.0 kg/ha and methabenzthiazuron 2.0 and 3.0 kg/ha pro-duced higher green pod yields which were on par with that obtained in a complete weed-free treatment. Preplant incorporation of fluchloralin 1.0 kg/ha delayed emer-gence of pea seedlings by 3–4 days.
