Abstract

In field experiments conducted in the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1975–76 and 1976–77, tolerance of six wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivars Kalyan sona, PV 18, S 308 (Sonalika), WG 357. WG 377 and HD 2009 to metoxuron applied at preemergence (1.2 kg/ha) and early post-emergeni e (0.8 kg/ha) was studied. WG 357 showed high sensitivity to metoxuron, particularly when it was applied as early postemergence. WG 377, though more tolerant than WG 357 also showed this tendency. The interaction between varieties X chemical treatments regarding grain yield was significant during 1975–76.
