Maximum weed population was recorded in June 16 transplanted crop. Total weed population decreased with delay in transplanting from June 16 to July 1 and to July 16. Dry matter production by weeds was maximum in June 16 transplanted crop and least in the July 16 transplanted one. The major flushes of weeds were during the period of 15th to 45 day of transplanting. Eehinochloa crus.galli, E. colonum, Cyperus iria and Eclipta alba have emerged maximum during first 45 days. Weed free maintenance during the initial 45 days reduced weed population and dry matter production.
