Weed Flora of Orchards in Patiala Distric, Punjab*

Abstract

Observations on weed flora of orchards of loquat, mango, guava, citrus group of fruits, grapes and ber were made for ten years (1972 onwards). As many as 99 species of weeds belonging to 76 genera grouped under 28 families of flowering Plants have been observed in orchards of Patiala District. Dominant weeds are Ma'vastrum coromandclianum, Oxalis corniculita, Tridax procumbins, Euphorbia giniculata and some grassses. Annuals are 69% while rest are perennials. Shrubs are poorly represented (14%). Weed flora of orchards have 69 species of weeds common with the weed flora of rest of the cultivable lands.
