Forty weed species occurring at the Agricultural Farm, Sriniketan and adjoining areas in the heart of lateriiic tract of West Bengal were analysed for their mineral content during different seasons. Cleorne viscosa L.. Atylotia scarabaeoides (L.) Bemh and Physalis minima L. contained the highest amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, respectively. Heliotropium indicum L. had the highest calcium, Trianthema portulacastrum L. iron, Fimbristylis miliacea Vahl. zinc, Achyranthes asptra L. manganese and Eupatorium odoraturn L. copper content. Wetland rice weeds were containing higher amounts of nitrogen, potassium, iron, manganese and zinc whereas weeds of aerobic soils contained higher amount of phosphorus.
