Field experiments were conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University farm during 1984 and to study the atrazine residues in sorghum and the substquent crops of finger millet/cotton The 1985 airazine was analysed using UV spectrophotometer. The airrzine content in soil decreased significantly over period of time. Increasing the dose of atrazine increased the persistence beyond harvest of soighum. The grain and stalk yield of sorghum remained unaffected due to increase in atrazine application even up to 1.0 kg/ha and the residue accumulated was below tolerance level Atrazine applied to sorghum had no residual phytotoxic effect on succeeding fingermillet and cotton and no residue was detected in their produce.
