Abstract

Effect of growth regulators on biochemical changes of root leachates as well as the growth pattern of the plant was studied. Total amino acid content in the root leachates of Flaveria increased from 30–60 day. On 60 day leachates recorded highest total phenol content in control over treated plants. There was a gradual increase in total protein content in the root leachates of control as well as GA3 sprayed plants and ihis pattrrn altered in other treatments. Initially all the treatments showed an increase of carbohydrates which could not last till 60 day, when the carbohydrate content was lecorded less than that of control. Plants treaied with 2,4-D and atrazine died after 30 and 60 day study, respectively. GA3 treatment elongated internodal region and MH inhibited the plant growih.
