Highest emergence of most competitive weed, Chenopodium album L. occurred on Nov. 5 sowing which decreased gradually with delay in sowing. The emergence of Vicia sativa L. and Lathyrus aphaca L. increased weed dry weight. Application of fluchloralin at 1.5 kg/ha proved most effective during both years. Number of pods/plant and consequently the grain yield of chickpea were highest when the sowing was done on Nov. 20. Application of fluchloralin or pendimethalin (1.5 kg/ha) produced higher yield than other weed control treatments.
