Abstract

Seven treatmenls including hand weeding and weedy checks were evaluated in a randomized block design with three replications at Punjab Agricultural University. Ludhiana during 1985 and 1986. Application of atrazine before transplanting (0.625kg/ha) or at 2 or 20 days after transplanting (0.625 and 0.375 kg/ha) effectively controlled the weeds, significantly incieased grain and stover yield. There was no phytotoxic effect on succeeding crops of cowpcas (Vigna sinensis) and Jantar [Sesbania aculcata L).
