The investigation on crop-weed compeiiiion was carried out at the Vegciahle Rf-earch Farm and laboratories of the department of vegetable crops. Haryana Agricultural Univeisiiy. Hissr during 1983 and 1984. Twelve treatments were evaluated in landomized block design with three replications. The total weed intensity and their dry weight were highest in unweadcd followed by weeding upto 20 and 40 days after transplanting ot brinjai variety BR-1 f 2 atui least in weed free treatmeni followed by weeding after 20 days. Yield was not significantly affected in treaiments where weeding was done upto 60. 80 or 100 days indicating thai weeding after 40 days of transplanting is not essential in brinjai.
