F.eld experiments were conducted during 1983–84 and 1984 85 to study the influence of methods of sowing and herbicides on weed control in wheat. Cross row (bidirection) method of sowing reduced the dry matter accumulation by Cliencpi dium album L. The growth of grassy weeds was not affected by method of sowing of wheal, Isoproturon alone at 0–75 kg/ha or 1.0 kg/ha was effective against Phalaiis minor L. Rctz and C. album but not against wild oats and other broadleaf weeds. Sowing wheat in cross row and application of isoproturon alone proved complementary to each other.
