Increasing nitrogen status increased the dry matter accumulation and N depletion by weeds. Isoproturon applied at 35 days stage alone or in combination with one mechanical weeding at 45 day has minimum weed growth and nitrogen drain by weeds at all stages. The grain yield response to N was quadratic with unweeded check, 2,4-D and one hand weeding, while the same was linear with isoproturon alone, and with combined application of isoproturon or 2,, 4-D+ one mechanical weeding. The most profitable N rate was 138.42 kg/ha, and yield achieved at this rate was 4150 kg/ha.
