Abstract

Field studies were conducted under deep vertisols of M.P to conpare the efficacy and economics of cultural and chemical measures of weed control in soybean (Glycine Max Merrill). Cyperus rotundus L;, Cynodon dactylon L.(Pers), and Euphorbia, spp. were the prominant weed spp. Pre-emergence application of Penaxalin (1.0 L/ha) followed by working with Kulpa at 25 days after sowing gave highest (61.6%) weed control efficiency, soybean grain yield (1627 kg/ha) and benefit cost ratio (1.6). Weed population existing till harvest was found to have high but negative correlation with soybean grain yield.
