Abstract

A survey of the weed flora of potato fields of higher hills of Nilgiris revealed that the crop was infested with 67 weed species be Longing to 21 families. The most dominant families are conpositae and graminae with 10 and 9 weed species respectively. The most prominant weed species were [Sperguta arvensis, Polygonum repalygonum nepalense, Oxalis latifolia. Poa annua Anaphalis spp. and Polycarpon loeflingiae. Certain weed species were found location specific. Most of the weeds were of annual in nature.
