Abstract

Pre-emer«ence application of oxadiazon 9.5 kg/ha, pandimethalin 0.75 kg/ha and 2,4-D 0.8 kg/ha (sodium salt) and pre-plant application of fluchloralin gave 4 to 5 fold reduction in the dty matter of weeds. Maximum pod yield was recorded with the oxadiazon 0.5 kg/h« (per-ena) which was closely followed by sequential application of pendimethlin 0.75 kg/ha (pre) followed by fluazifopbutyl 0.25 kg/ha. Post emergence application of 2,4-D 0.8 kg/ha followed by fluazifop-butyl 0.2 kg/ha (tank mix) had phytotoxic effect on the crop. Post-emergence application of fluazifop-butyl 0.25 kg/ha (30 days after sowing) also gave lesser pod yield due to no control of broadleaf weeds in this crop. None of the herbicides showed any adverse effect on the nodulation of this crop.
