Abstract

Terbutryn (2 methylthio-4-ethylaroine-6 tert. butyl amino-it-triazine), did not show any effect on maize (Zea mays L.) and watergrass (Echinochloa colonumL.) seed germination but the herbicide had a marked differential response on seedling growth. In maize, seedling growth increased with an increase in the dose of terbutryn while in watergrass it proved phytotoxic and even lethal at 20 ppm concentration.
