Results of the experiment conducted at H. P. Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur revealed that controlling weeds with alachlor 1.5 kg/ha (Pre) siginificantly decreased the N, P, K uptake by weeds whereas the same increased in case of maize and soybean crops. The soil fertility status after crop harvest increased significantly due to control of weeds as compared to unweeded check. Intercropping of soybean with maize and increasing maize population decreased the nutrient uptake by weeds but the uptake by maize and soybean increased significantly. Intercropping with soybean, increase in maize population and use of higher doses of fertility resulted in improved fertility staius of Soil after erop harvest.
