Two field experiments were conducted on the competition of wild oat and other weeds during 1985–86 and 1986–87 at the Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Haryana Agricultural Univeersity, Hisar. The nitrogen uptake by broad leaf weeds was significantly t less than the wild oats. Vlheat was more competitive at higher nitrogen rate in the presence of broad leaved weeds. Wild oat was equally competitive at higher nitrogen rates. The advarse effect of wild oat on nitrogen uptake by wheat was not significantly affected by higher nitrogen rates. The broad leaved weed dominance allowed more uptake by wheat at higher nitrogen level than the dominance by wild oat.
