In a two year study conducted during 1983 and 1984 at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Shillong recorded a drastic reductions in grain yield due to delay in weeding beyond 40 days of sowing. Weeding at 40 DAS reduced weed density and biomass by 46 and 60% and saved 100.6, 3.8, 81.9 kg N, P, K/ha per year (on two years mean basis) in comparison of unweeded check.
