Abstract

Field experiments conducted during 1984–85 and 1985–86 in kharif seasons to study the effects of benthiocarb. butachlor and oxyflurofen for the control of Echinochloa colonum in rice nursery indicated that the application of herbicides on 3(d day after lowing was found to be effective in reducing the dry weight of weeds. Application of benthiocarb at 2.5 and 1.87 kg/ha and butachlor 1.50k3/ha was found useful in controlling Echinochloa sp. without any phytotoxic effects on rice seedlings. Application of oxyfluorfen was found to be toxic to rice seedlings.
