Abstract

In field experiment conducted in jute (Corclioms olitorius L) the highest weed control efficiency (WCE) was found in treatment with two hand Weeding (86%). The treatment of flupzifop-p-butyl 0 188 kg/ha as post-em. (21 das), ffuchloralin 1.0 kg/ha as ppi (2 d b s) and pendimeihalin 0.75 kg/ha as ppi (2dbs)al l followed by two hoeings (25 and 35 d a s) provided 56.7n", 49% and 37% weed control efficiency, respectively. The plots treated with fiuchloralin 10 kg/ha, (ppi) followed by two hoeings gave high fibre yield. Among herbicides, fluchloralin followed by pendimeihalin (as ppi) and fluazifop-p-butyl as post-em. weie promising, giving comparable yield with the conventional method. Fibre yield of jute was reduced to the tune of 1968 kg/ha and 1227 kg/ha due to weed competition in unweeded check plots in 19S6 and 1987, respectively.
