Seasonal variation of fungi, bacteria and actinomycetes of compositae weeds were studied. Less fungal numbers were recorded in summer season in all the five soils, while maximum was recorded during winter months, touching their peaks in November-September and October. Highest average counts of bacteria were recorded during rainy seasoo and the minimum counts were during winter season in all the soils. The maximum actinomycete population was found in July and September, while the minimum was recorded in the summer season. Microbial number in the rhizosphere of Ageratnm, Parthenium and Flaveria showed a significant increase when compared to root free soils. The maximum fungal numbers were recorded in the rhizosphere of Parthenium, an intermediate plant between C3 and Ct pathway.
