A field experiment was conducted at the Agronomy farm of HPKV, Palampur during rabi 1987 88 and 1988–89 to study the effect of weed control methods and phosphorus levels on weeds and yield of gobhi sarson. The percentage reduction in yield due to weeds at no phosphorus, 40 kg P205, 60 kg P205 and 80 kg P205 per hectare was 80.4, 70 2, 62 6 and 55 0 per cent, respectively over handweeding twice at each ot the phosporus levels. Significantly highest yield was obtained with combination of handweeding twice and 60 kg P205/ha, but at 40 kg P205, it was statistically at par with combination of pcndimethalin 1.5 kg/ha (Pre) and 40–80 kg P205 per hectare. Thus by controlling the weeds with penditnethalin and handweeding twice, 40 kg and 20 kg P205, respectively could be economised in medium phosphorus status acidic soils.
