A novel system, to study the mobility/leaching of pesticides, was designed and the leaching pattern of five herbicides was studied. The system was found feasible to detect the leaching pattern to a distance/depth of 30 cm of soil column, under laboratory conditions and also found amicable for both bioassay and chemical assay. The bioassay results showed that oxadiazon was least mobile, while butachlor and benthiocarb were moderately more mobile and oxyfluorfen and pyrazosulfuronethyl were highly mobile.
