Contribution from ICAR Res. Complex for NEH region, Shillong (Meghalaya)
Field siudies conducted at ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Shillong during 1983 and 1984 revealed that use of alachlor 3.0 kg/ha pre-emergeoce in soybean controlled weeds (81.7% WCE) and enhanced soybean seed yield by 68 and 127% over manual weeding (1908 kg/ha) and weedy (1136 kg/ha). Pre-plant incorporation of fluchloralin and pre-emer-gence application of alachlor at reduced rates did not prove effective. Use of alachlor (3.0 kg/ha) saved 189.5, 6 1, 142.2 kg/ha NP and K, respectively as a result of effective weed control.
