Field experiment to find out the competitive behaviour of A. ludovlciana and Melilotus sp. with wheat under varying levels of nitrogen (80, 120 and 160 kg/ha) io combination with weed control treatments were conducted during 1984-85 and 1985-86. Results showed that there were no significant differences in grain yield of crop supplied with different levels of nitrogen during both years. Among weed control treatments, isoproturon (0.75 kg/ha) improved grain yield of wheat by 45.3 and 9.1 per cent as compared to crop treated with 2,4-D (controlled only dicot weeds) and diclofopmethly (1,0 kg/ha), a wild oat specific herbicide, indicating that competition of wild oat was more severe than Melilotus sp. in wheat.
