Abstract

Herbicides were as effective as handweeding in increasing the grain yield of rice. But-achlor, oxadiazon, benthiocarb and pendimethalin were statistically equal in their effect in increasing (he grain yield of transplanted rice. However, the former two treatments gave slightly higher yield as compared to latter two treatments.

In puddled seeded rice, butachlor 1.0 kg/ha was most effective. The next best treatments were benthiocarb and pendimethalin. Aniloros and oxyfluorfen gave excellent control of weeds but had adverse effect on crop during early stages.
