Abstract

The efficacy of fluroxypyr against different phenoxy herbicides resistant broad leaved weeds (BLW) such as sunspurge (Euphorbia helioscopia) and cleaver (Galium aprine) was tested at five different locations in NWFP and Punjab. Fluroxypyr (0.20 Kg/ha) gave an excellent controJ of BLW at all the experimental sites. Alhough higher rate such as 0.25 Kg/ha was more effective but the lowest rate 0.15 Kg/ha also gave 78 to 86% control of cleavers. Where as sunspurge was the most resistant weed against 2,4-D sodium salt (1.85 kg/ha) at National Agricultural Reseach Centre (NARC) and fluroxypyr gave a 60% control when applied at the raie of 0.20 kg/ha. At Sialkot district fluroxypyr (0.20 kg/ha) showed excellent control of all BLW except common lambs quarters (Chenopodium album). Other broad specirum herbicides such as methabenzthiazuron + McPA and dicamba + MCPA effectively controlled all kinds of broad leaved weeds present in field.
