The results bf the experiment indicated the Superiority of isoproturon followed by melhabenzthiazWon in controlling the weeds effectively. The increase in doses of herbicides consistently decreased the population and dry matter of Weeds where as except isoproturon the yield also increased. Isopoturon at 2$ per cent higher than recommended dose caused phytotoxicity and decreased the grain yield sighificantly. Application of herbicides at pre-emergence and seedling stages of the crop was superior over maximum tillering in controlling the weeds and increasing the grain yield of wheat. To control the weeds at maximum tillering stage of the crop, 25 per cent hihger than the recommended dose was effective.
