Abstract

To study the relative performance of different herbicides for weed control in dual type flax, experiment with twelve field experiments with twelve treatments were carried out in randomised block design during winter season of 1988-89 and 1989-90. All the herbicidal treatments produced significantly higher seed and fible yield over unweeded check during both the years. Among herbicides, haloxyfo-pmethyl 0.2SO kg/ha (post) produced significantly higher seed and fibre yield but seed yield was statistically similar to the application of isoproturon 1.00 kg/ha (Post), oxyfluorfen0.20 kg/ha (Pre) in both the years, methabenzthiazuron 1.00 kg/ha (Post) and fluazifop-p-butyle 0.50 kg/ha (Post) during 1988-89 and pendiafethalin 1.50 kg/ha (Pre) during 1989-90 only. Dry weight of weeds and number of different weed species were also reduced significantly by different herbicides.
