Treatment of 25 to 50 cm tall Parthenium with 2, 4-D at 1.6 and 2.4 kg, atrataf 1.0 and 1.5 kg, diuron 1.6 and 2.4 kg and tank mix application of atrazine l.o kg and diuron 1.6 kg with 2,4-D at 1.6 kg/ha significantly reduced the number of Parthenium plants/m’ and their dry matter as compared to unsprayed. However, paraquat at 0.5 and 1.0 kg/ha was not fonnd effective against this weed. In another set of experiments, spraying was done on grown up piants of Parthenium i. e. 0.5 to 1.0 m tall. No. of Parthenium plants and their dry matter recorded about one month after spraying were significantly reduced with the application of atrazine at 1.25 kg and 1.5 kg, diuron at. 2.0 and 3.0 kg, tank mix application of atrazine at 1.25 kg and 1.9 kg and of diuron at 2.0 and 3.0 kg/ha with 2, 4-D at 1.0 kg/ha. as compared to unsprayed spot.
