Studies on residues of herbicides applied to control oxalis latifolia and ageratum conyzoides by biossay technique

Abstract

The laboratory experiments were conducted in the Department of Agronomy Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur during 1987-1988. Six leguminous crop viz. lentil, cowpea, rajmash, mash, arhar and soybean were tested against the residues of different herbicide. In the soil collected from pot experiment, lentil proved to be most sensitive crop for residues of different herbicides, Bioassay parameters of rajmash were also significantly affected by DOWCO 433 granules (6.0 kg/ha), DOWCO 433 liquid (0.2 L/ha) and 2,4-D ester (1.0 kg/ha). In the soil collected from field studies, per cent germination of rajmash and plant height of cowpea, were significantly affected by the residues of different herbicides indicating that rest of the leguminous crops viz. lentil, mash, arhar and soybean can successfully be grown under field conditions.
