Laboratory and pot studies on the emergence behaviour of wrinkle grass under variable temperature, submergence period and depth of seed placement in the soil were conducted. A temperature range of 30"C to 40"C was found to be the optimum for germination of wrinkle grass seeds. Bach spikelet contain two seeds. i. e. one bold and one small. At. 20°C temperature only bold seeds germinates. Wrinkle grass seeds emerged well only up to 5 cm soil deptti. Continuous submergence checked germination of wrinkle grass as long as water kept ponded, however, seedlings emerged only after drainage of ponded water. The prolonged submergence of 3 to 5 weeks adversely affected the vigour of wrinkle grass seedling.
