Field experiments were conducted to work out optimum irrigation schedule and economical method of weed control for sunflower crop grown during kharif 1989 and rabi 1990 in clay loam soils of Coimbatore. Irrigation scheduled at IW/CPE value of 0.75 was found optimum. The weed control treatments viz. flurochloridone 0.5 kg/ha+One HW (40 d.a.s.), pendirnethalin 1.0 kg/ha+one HW (40 d.a.s.), flurochloridone 0.25 kg. + pendi. methalin 0.5 kg+one HW (40 d.a.s.) and HW twice (20 and 40 d.a.s.) recorded significantly higher seed yield and were on par with each other. The interaction between moisture regimes and weed control treatments was non significant.
