Field experiments were conducted in sunflower crop during Kharif 1989 and Rabi 1990 in clay loam soils at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore using flurochloridone 0.5 kg, tank mixture of flurochloridone 0.25 kg+pendimethalin 0.5 kg/ha treated alone and in combination with one handweeding. The sensitive crops that followed in the rotation (Sorghum, pearlmillet and cowpea) were not affected by any of the herbicides tested in the first crop. In the second crop bio-assay, the germination of all these crops was marginally affected but the plant height and dry matter production of crops were not affected.
