Weed Management With Respect to Nutrients Uptake in Wheat

A study on the pattern of nutrients removal by weed species in wheat under different cultural and chemical methods of weed control revealed that closer row spacing and cross sowing caused maximum reduction in nutrients uptake of Vida sativa L. and Lathyrus aphaca L. followed by Phalaris minor Retz. and Avena ludoviciana Dur. and was least affected in other weed species. This lead to increase in nutrients uptake by wheat. Higher seed fate and isoproturon (0.5 and 1.0 kg/ha) reduced cosiderably the nutrients uptake by P. minor and A. Tudoviciana as compared to other weed species, which subsequently increased the nutrients uptake by the crop.
