Abstract

Unchecked weed growth reduced maize yield by 61.3 per cent as compared to weed free check. Metolachlor aod pendimethalio each at 1–2 kg/ha, benthiocarb 1 5–2.0 kg/ha aod oxadiazon 0.5–1.25 kg/ha aave effective control of weeds. However, oxadiazon at biahee rates proved phytotoxic to both the crop. Metolachlor 1 kg/ha. pendimethalin 1 kg/ha, benthiocarb 2 kg/ha and oxadiazoD 0.5 kg/ha were best alternatives to handweeding and boeina in Maize+ Blackaram intercroppiog system on the basis of maize equivalent yield.
